National Shea Products Association of Nigeria (NASPAN) establishes Committees to revitalize the sector

As part of efforts to reposition the Nigerian Shea Industry Sector, the Executive Committee of the National Shea Products Association of Nigeria (NASPAN), under the leadership of Muhammadu Ahmed Kontagora, has approved the establishment of 12 Standing Committes and 1 Adhoc Committee to undertake various activities towards the successful revitalization of the sector

According to a press statement issued by the Association’s spokesman, Hon Abubakar Bagudu Dallatun Kalgo, the Committees are essentially established to address the problems of quality, informal exports and value addition measures aimed at positioning Nigerian Shea Industry to take its rightful place in the global shea market.

The measure is also to promote mutually beneficial relationships with various actors in the Shea value Chain as well as improve working relationship with regulatory agencies for ease of doing business in line with the African Continental Free Trade Zones Initiative.

The Committees’ memberships were drawn from all strata of stakeholders in the Shea Industry Value Chain across the Country.

The President congratulated all members of the Committees and urged them to work ascsidiously towards achieving desired results including the target of planting 10 million Shea Trees within the next 5 years under the NASPAN Parkland Sustainability, Affrostation and Reforestation Program among others.
