Unity And Attitudinal Change Is A Developmental Feature Of Any Community, Says Kebbi Deputy Governor.
This was disclosed by his excellency rtd Col Samaila Yombe Dabai mni, fss, psc+, MBA (TAMBARIN ZURU) during a meeting with Rumu Development Forum (RUDEF) held at the palace of the Village head of Rumu on Saturday, 5th December 2020.
The Deputy Governor who has been a founding member of RUDEF for over ten years, said the forum was formed with the agenda of unity, added that the meeting was expected to discuss on the review of RUDEF constitution, challenges and the way forward of the caretaker committee.
He decried poor attitude of children to parents and vice versa and described it as one of the factors that hinder development of any community. He urged traditional rulers to be role models of unity considering their fatherly role in the community.
Samaila Yombe Dabai further added that as a Deputy Governor, he is not limited in the State having over 700 political wards and 21 local governments that expects many things from him. “I have influenced the appointment of over 100 people both political and public service within the State and Federal level from the time i became the Deputy Governor to date” He added.
He charged youths on unity and cooperation ahead of Rumu Uhola Cultural Festival and commended both State, Federal Government and patriots on the recent approval of Dabai-Koko road as well as Gadar Zaima to Birnin Yauri by the Federal Government.
In his speech, Hon Dantani Sose, Councilor Rumu Dabanseme Ward described Deputy Governor as a shield and commended him for construction of Palace of village heads of Rumu and Tadurga, construction of boreholes, wells and employment of many in the political and public service space as well as construction of feeder road linking to the old city of Rumu.
Earlier in her remarks, Hajiya Hadiza Usman Danga requested the recognition of Skills acquisition centre built by women community in Rumu and Sheer butter processing centre in Rumu by the elites and government for employment and development of Rumu community and Kebbi State at large. She appreciated the gesture of Governor Bagudu led administration for women oriented empowerment schemes and sought for more programmes that will carry women along.
While responding, the Village head of Rumu, Alh Tanko Muhammad described Unity and Development associations have helped various communities to develop because of bringing many voices under one umbrella of purpose.
In his concluding remarks, Samaila Yombe Dabai said any act of immorality in the community is totally unacceptable and should be treated as such.
He further said that Kebbi State women are very lucky that Bagudu led administration have accessed 100m$ from World Bank under Nigeria for Women Project aimed to empower rural women with funds for business and 3 Local Government Areas (Warra, Maiyama and Argungu) were shortlisted for the pilot programme which is to commence soon and subsequent programmes will be extended.
In attendance were village heads of Sarkin Dutse, Kwàkâ and Dega as well as community leaders, Sons and Daughters of Rumu among others.
