Labana rice mills lead the search for higher varieties of seeds

A joint team of stakeholders in Rice production have undertaken assessment of varietal trials of four Rice seeds to determine the best and high yield varieties for use by farmers in the country.

The seeds
being experimented at Labana Rice seeds multiplication farm are Faro 44, 52, 61 and 67.

The search for higher yield varieties is aimed at increasing production and processing of high quality par boiled in the country.

The joint team includes Dr. Clement Onwu a consultant to Competative African Rice Initiative (CARI-GIZ) sponsors of the trial, Hajiya Mariyatu Suleman from Sokoto Rima River Basin development Authority, Alh Muhammad Lawal Kurso of Kebbi Agricultural and Rural development Authority and Abdullahi Idris Zuru of Labana Rice Mills Ltd.
