Yombe Dabai, Deputy Governor of Kebbi has expressed appreciation to the Emir of Zuru for convening the Elders Forum Meeting in Zuru recently.
This was disclosed when fielding questions from journalists after a close door meeting of Zuru Emirate Elders Forum held at Emir’s Palace in Zuru on Saturday, 3rd October 2020.
The Deputy Governor further reveal the stand of the local vigilante group known as Yan Sa Kai on the need to operate within the legal frame work adding that on no account should suspected criminals be executed without law backing such actions.
Samaila Yombe Dabai added that Yan Sa Kai serve some useful purpose in complementing security efforts in the fight against banditry and kidnappings adding that the group will be restructured with appropriate command structure to stand the taste of time within the law.
The Deputy Governor described security as a collective responsibility, saying that people must rise to defend themselves from external attacks as stipulated by law.
“The security agencies will work closely with Yan Sa Kai in the maintenance of peace and security through community policing” he added.
The Deputy Governor further reiterated his call to fish out bad eggs from Yan Sa Kai group who are bent on illegal operations saying that failure to comply with constituted authorities and operate within the ambit of law is a riot and formation of government within government as such, attracts decisive actions.
Earlier, the Deputy Governor commended His Excellency, Senator Atiku Bagudu for his support in peaceful coexisted of the state and praised HRH Maj Gen (Dr) Muhammadu Sani Sami mni, LLD, psc, FICEN Sami Gomo II, the Emir of Zuru for calling elders forum meeting at the right time aimed to discuss various issues affecting collective bargain of Zuru Emirate.
Traditional rulers, elders and other critical stake holders across Zuru Emirate were in attendance.
