As part of the commemoration of the 60th Nigeria’s independence anniversary, the Kebbi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring all indigenous students at various institutions of learning are encouraged to excel in the their academic performances.
This was disclosed when his Excellency, rtd Col Samaila Yombe Dabai mni, fss, psc+ MBA (TAMBARIN ZURU), the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State received Members of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and National Union of Kebbi State Students (NUKESS) on a courtesy call at the Chamber of Government House Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
The Deputy Governor who represented Governor Bagudu, congratulated the students for the step taken to celebrate the 60th Independence Anniversary with the State Government.
Samaila Yombe Dabai urged them to recognise the effort of the State Government towards the development of the Kebbi State and Nigeria at large, particularly the education sector.
He said no Nation will progress without the contribution of youth, advised them to remain good Ambassadors of the State wherever they found themselves and remain resolute, trustworthy, self reliant, avoid bad friends and all forms of social vices and become productive members of the society.
He use the medium to state that schools across the State will be reopening next week, there is need for all students, teachers as well as school management observe guidelines for COVID-19.
The Deputy Governor added that the State Government has made all necessary safety arrangements.
In his remarks, the leader of the delegation, Comrade Muhammad Kichinga said, they were at the Government House to celebrate and congratulate the State Government on it’s remarkable achievements despite numerous challenges rocking the smooth and rapid development of the State.
“State Government has done so much in the areas of Agriculture Electricity and Water Supply, Road Constructions and Rehabilitations among others adding that the celebration was to mark the 60th Independence Anniversary and showcase to the world the leadership style of Governor Bagudu which led to unity and progress of the State” Comrade Kinchiga further revealed.
Kinchiga further lauded the effort of State Government for upgrading Adamu Augie College of Education Argungu to a degree awarding institution, upgrade of former School of Nursing and Midwifery Birnin Kebbi and School of Health, Science and Technology Jega to Colleges and appealed to the State Government to appoint Special Adviser to the Governor on Student Matters for effective performance.
Highlight of the event was presentation of gift to the Governor through the Deputy as well as group photographs.
