Kebbi Deputy Governor chairs steering committee for Nigeria for Women Project
Following the inauguration of State Steering Committee, Nigeria For Women Project by Governor of Kebbi State, Sen Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on Monday 8th September 2020, the Deputy Governor Rtd Colonel Sama’ila Yombe has emerged as Chairman State Steering committee while the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development Hajiya Aishatu Muhammed Maikurata will serve as Chairperson of the Technical committee for the Project (NFWP), a World Bank Assisted Programme.
No fewer than 54,000 women are expected to benefit from the initiative from Ngaski, Maiyama and Argungu Local Government Areas of the State.
Kebbi State was selected to benefit from the programme introduced by the World Bank, in a keen performance based competition among other States of the federation.
Over $100 million was earmarked by the World Bank for the lucky participating States.
Governor Bagudu in his inaugural speech said “organisation and record keeping are imparative as as well as compliance with the World Bank’s requirements and directives”.
The Governor emphasised that the two committees are critical in determining the successful participation of the State in the project and further revealed that women in Kebbi needed the programme the most while emphasizing the need for the members of the two Committees to excel by ensuring Kebbi State leads in the project.
He charged the committees on transparency and involvement of all stakeholders for effective service delivery.
In his remarks, Rtd Col Sama’ila Yombe Dabai mni, fss, psc+, MBA, the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State thanked Governor Bagudu for the opportunity to Head the committee and assured that the committee will bring out it’s best in the discharge of given responsibilities.
