Kebbi: Shanga community appeals for upgrade of secondary schools

Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Babale Umar Yauri, mni (Fagachin Yauri) this Wednesday in his office received a powerful delegation from Shanga local government area led by Hon. Muhammad Tukur, the member representing Shanga constituency in the State House of Assembly.

Babale Umar Yauri expressed optimism that, Kebbi state government under the leadership of Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu will continue to place priority to educational sector, saying that education is the bedrock for societal development.

Babale Umar Yauri who pledged to forward their request to the Governor, assured them that, Senator Abubakar Bagudu being the education friendly Governor will critically look into the matter.

Earlier in his remarks, the member representing Shanga Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Tukur said they were in SSG’s office to formally forward their request for renovation of Government Day Secondary School Shanga, which according to him is seriously dilapidated and worthy for renovation.

Hon. Muhammad Tukur appealed to the State Governor to kindly consider their request to provide enabling environment for their children to acquire quality education.

Tukur Muhammad further said they were also to forward another request for upgrading the school from Government Day to the Boarding Secondary School Shanga to ease their students who suffer while trekking to school daily especially during the rainy season, instead to be camped them for the whole term.

Also speaking, the District Head of Shanga, the Kwakwaten Shanga, Alhaji Nasiru Jafaru said recently a flood was occurred due to heavy rainfall in Shanga area and it displaced many households, appealing to the state government to offer emergency assistance to the victims.

In the delegation were the Special Adviser to the Governor, Alhaji Shehu Muhammad Natsoffi (Jarman Shanga) and Village Head of Shanga, Abdullahi Labbo Muhammad among others. Also in attendance during the visit were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Zaki Mu’azu, Alaramma Atiku Warrah and Hamza Abubakar among others.
