Kebbi holds Basic health workshop for teenagers
The Kebbi State Multi Purpose Business Cooperative Union held a Basic Health Workshop for 100 Teenagers randomly picked from schools across the State Capital.
The Cooperative is one of Initiatives initiated by Her Excellency Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu to reach out to women and youth by empowering them to sustainable livelihood.
The two days workshop was split into four sessions of 25 students each in order to adhere to social distancing rules.
Present at various sessions were Hon. Jafar Muhammad the Honourable Commissioner of Health and Dr. Abubakar Kaoje Executive Secretary State Primary Health Care who co organized the workshop for teens.
Also popped in as resource persons to educate the teenagers were members of the COVID19 task force Alh. Saifainu Bena Permanent Secretary State Security (Enforcement Committee), Mr. Joel Aiki the Permanent Secretary State Ministry of Agriculture , Dr. Aminu Bunza The Chief Medical Director & Permanent Secretary of Sir Yahaya Hospital as well as Haj. Asmau Alkali the Executive Secretary SUBEB.
Hon. Jafar Muhammad in his opening remarks said that the programme was a collaborative efforts of the Cooperative, State Primary Health Care Development agency. The idea was to enlighten young ones at home on safety guidelines to halt the spread of corona virus. He urged the teenagers to listen keenly to all lessons and declared the workshop open.
Topics covered include: corona virus overview, microbes & prevention of infection, practical hand wash, personal hygiene, menstrual hygiene, nutrition for teens, home farming, security consciousness and home education.
Highlight of each session was presentation of gifts to the winners of quiz and spelling bee competitions.

Her Excellency Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu graced the last session where she expressed delight for the interest displayed by the students. She re emphasized the serious nature of the epidemic and prayed that the children would abide by the hygiene protocols they have learnt at all times and disseminate it to their parents and sibblings.
