YALI Network Kebbi organizes second meet up, honors achievers
The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Kebbi Network has organized its second face to face meetup dedicated to celebrate great achievers from Kebbi and educate youths passionate about international opportunities
The event, which took place at Conference hall of Women Center, Birnin Kebbi, tagged “Conversation with United State Exchange Program Alumni” featured Presentations, Panel Discussions, Poetry and Presentation of certificates and awards to young indigenes of Kebbi who recently excel at both National and International Arena.
In his opening remarks, the Coordinator of the Network, Bashar Buhari explained that the second meetup was dedicated to celebrate the US exchange program alumni from Kebbi State namely Barrister Shehu Marsha Jega (International Visitor Leadership Program 2004) Barrister Shamsuddeen Magaji (Fulbright Foreign Student Program 2019) Zulaihat Abdulrauf (Youth Exchange and Study Program 2018) Abbas Bello (Youth Exchange and Study Program 2019) and to create a platform where the alumni can connect with young people in the state who are passionate about the international opportunities. Others celebrated at the meetup include the recent winner of National SME award from Kebbi State Saadatu Haruna Illo and Amarachi Nelly Ikoro, an outgoing Corp member who served YALI Network as NYSC coordinator.

In her presentation titled “Where are the opportunities”, Ambassador Nafisa Zaki charged young people in Kebbi to properly utilize and exploit the opportunities provided by technology especially the smartphones. She called on young people to focus on acquiring more skills through personal development and skills acquisition.
Speaking about the event, Mr Marwan Gwamba, secretary of YALI Kebbi emphasized that the event created an avenue for young people to chat with of different fellowships in the U.S. He concluded that, the event will motivate more youth to apply in the future.
Dignitaries at the event include Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning represented by a Director in the Ministry Alh Haliru Usman, CEO Active Support for Rural People Initiative Ibrahim Abdullahi Ngaski, Zarau Ahmad of Tallafin Mata Initiative among others.
Others participants were executives and members of YALI, Students from some selected Secondary Schools, and Journalists.
