The Kebbi State Government has placed a very strong warning to some volunteer groups(Yan Sa Kai) to stop engaging in an illegal operations across the State.
This was the submission of the State Deputy Governor Rtd. Colonel Sama’ila Yombe Dabai mni, MBA, fss, psc+ while addressing community leaders and security heads in Zuru Emirate yesterday.
The Deputy Governor who was speaking in response to the recent unlawful killing of Late District Head of Bajida Alhaji Musa Muhammad Bajida, revealed that the State Governor Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu is not happy with what is happening where people are taking laws into their hands, adding that all operations by any group must be stopped until further directives from concerned authorities and that the State Government will not relent in dealing decisively with any offenders who is trying to violate no matter how highly placed he/she might be to safeguarding lives of the people of the State, hence the need for them to work together with relevant security operatives for effective discharge of their responsibilities.
He reaffirmed the State Government’s readiness to fighting any act of insurgency that could lead to unrest and create confusion amongst people of the State.
The Deputy Governor expressed concern over the way and manner the Volunteers (Yan Sa Kai) are over reacting, saying “Some of us have fought so many wars for this country to be peaceful and united, we can not accept and will not compromise the existing peace in the State to vanish for someone’s selfish interest” the Deputy Governor said.
He said, there must be a control to whatever operations they intend to carryout under strong supervision of Security operatives like Army, Police, DSS etc and commended security agencies for a job well done.
The meeting was conducted at the residence of Chief of Dabai Chiefdom and was attended by Zuru Local Government Council Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Kabiru Rafi, His Highness the Chief of Dabai, Alhaji Sulaiman Abubakar Sami, District Heads of Ushe and that of Rikoto, Alhaji Muhammad Yawa Ushe and Alhaji Shehu Muhammad Rikoto as well as representatives of Nigeria Police Force and Department of State Security including the Chairman of the Volunteers (Yan Sa Kai) Mr. John Rumu.
