The Secretary to the State Government, Babale Umar Yauri has called on the Federal Road Safety Corps to cooperate with other sister agencies in the state to reduce the high rate of road crashes.
Babale Umar Yauri made call when he received the new Sector Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kebbi State Command, Danasabe Lawal Shehu on a courtesy visit at the Cabinet office.

The SSG who welcomed the new Sector Commandant, explained that Kebbi is a blessed and peaceful state, urging the Command to work closely with National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), National Association Road Transport Owners (NARTO) and Kabu-kabu Association with a view to further educate them on road usage and signs reduce the road accidents in the state.
He lamented on the issue of overloading of both goods and human, usage of harmful substances by drivers as well as other factors that may lead to higher rate of accidents. “It is very unfortunate, the way commercial motorists overload goods and human beings, sometimes even in the boot” SSG said.
He further called on Federal Road Safety Corps to work hand in hand with the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency and other relevant security agencies to overcome the menace.
Earlier in his remarks, the New State Sector Commandant, Danasabe Lawal Shehu solicited the state government support to ease the Command’s operations. He commended the state government for its unflinching support to the Command, reaffirming the command loyalty and commitments towards ensuring safety on the major roads and halting road accidents in the state.
The Sector Commandant who highlighted on the state slogan “Land of Equity” used the opportunity to call on government and commercial drivers of all categories of vehicles to obey the existing rules and regulations guiding road usage to minimize road accidents.
In attendance at the visit were the Permanent Secretary Special Services, Sufiyanu Garba Bena, Special Advisers on Security Matters, Garba Rabi’u Kamba, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Sani Dododo and Environment, Zaki Mu’azu respectively.
Others are Director Security Services, Aliyu Labaran as well as Officers and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps.
