My administration will sustain the policy of welfarism to soldiers and their families – Gov Bagudu
Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State says his administration will sustain its policy of welfarism to soldiers and their families in appreciation of their sacrifice to the peace and security of the country.
The Governor was speaking after observing Jumu’a prayer this Friday at the Dukku Barracks Jumu’a Mosque Birnin Kebbi along with other Muslim faithfuls.
He expressed delight about cordial relations existing between soldiers and civilians as well as between Christians and Muslims in the state, urging the people to sustain the tempo.
Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu offered special prayers for victory, success and quick end to insurgency, banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping and all forms of criminality throughout Nigeria.
The Governor acknowledged gallant efforts of the military towards securing peace and tranquillity in the nation, pledging to sustaining support to achieving the target objective.
He advised the soldiers and their families to adhere to all protocols on the prevention of Covid-19 with emphasis on hands washing, wearing of face masks and social distancing.
In a Khudbah during the Juma’a prayer, the Chief Imam of the 1 Battalion Nigerian Army Birnin Kebbi, Captain T.K Hamisu admonished Muslims to shun adultery, fornication, rape, societal evils, but to fear Allah in public and private life.
Captain T.K Hamisu cautioned that insecurity might persist unless everybody become God-fearing and avoid sinful acts.
He further requested Muslims to submit themselves absolutely to Allah (SWT) and seek for His forgiveness through acts of piety.
On exiting the barracks the Governor made a stop-over at a station of commercial motorcyclists known as “Kabu-Kabu” where he interacted with them on their operations and other matters.
He commended them for maintaining peace and for their contribution to the growth of the economy through commercial motorcycling of road transport.
Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu warned them against involvement in crime and imbibe precautionary measures to forestalling motorcycle theft as well as report suspicious characters to appropriate authorities.
The Governor provided financial support to the Kabu-Kabu operators and made similar gesture to a member of the association to off-set medical bills of his daughter who has fallen ill.
In separate remarks, the Chairman and Secretary of the Association Aliyu Muhammad and Ahmad Bala Nomau thanked Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for his benevolence.
They requested him to assist them with soft loan and help in curtailing incessant snatching of motorcycles from riders by criminals.
