Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company has been admonished to improve services as measure of guaranteeing effective payments of bills by customers.
Emir of Argungu in Kebbi State Alh Samaila Muhammad Mera stated that today at his Palace while receiving Stakeholders Committee on Power stability headed by Alh Yusuf Haruna Rasheed Sardaunan Gwandu.
Alh Samaila Muhammad Mera wondered how the Company operates without recourse to regular maintenance of facilities which negatively affects service delivery to consumers
The Emir acknowledged the concerted efforts made by Kebbi State Government under the leadership of Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu in the power sector calling on the Company to justify the commitment of the Government by ensuring power stability at all times.
Speaking earlier, leader of the team and Special Adviser to the State Government on Energy Matters Alh Yusuf Haruna Rasheed Sardaunan Gwandu said they were at the Palace to intimate the Emir of strategies being worked out to ensure sustainable Electricity Supply even beyond the tenure of the present administration in the State. This, according to him can only be achieved if Electricity Customers make apt and timely payments of their monthly bills.
Alh Yusuf Haruna Rasheed appealed to the Argungu Emirate Council to prevail on Electricity Customers in the area to ensure regular payments, avoid illegal connections and report faults to appropriate KAEDCO offices for necessary action instead of tempering with electrical installations directly.
The Special Adviser maintained that the Atiku Bagudu led adminstration has made power sector as an important area of priority with huge Investements by procuring and installing various range of transformers and other appliances to stabilize Electricity across the State.
He disclosed that within the last five years of the Administration, several relief stations funded by the State Government have been erected to balance energy supply to major Towns and local Governments headquarters in the State therefore KAEDCO should take full maintenance responsibility on all Equipment and installations provided by the Government to aid energy stability across the State.
He added that several Companies engaged in Agricultural Commodities processing are in the State due to availability and stability of electricity which is largely responsible for cost effective and Sustainable production of their various products. So far over 500 large, medium, small, cottage and cooperative owned rice Mills are operating across the State contributing to food sufficiently, employment and income generation with multiplayer economic effects to millions of families from within and outside the State.
The meeting was attended by members of Argungu Emirate Council, Representatives of KAEDCO, TCN and Halisa Engr Nig Ltd.
