Kebbi State Ministry of Lands and Housing has been urged to expedite the process and lessen bureaucratic bottlenecks of acquiring Certificates of Occupancy by Land Owners in the State.
This is to enable Entrepreneurs among them facilitate loan facilities with Commercial and Development Financial Institutions to support their respective Business Ventures
Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists NASSI Kebbi State Hon Abubakar Bagudu Dallatun Kalgo who made this appeal added that issuance of C of O has become cumbersomely herculean in Kebbi State for many years due to reasons based know to Land Management Administration : which does not augur well for the public interests.
The Vice Chairman opined that Certificates of Occupancy are the major Security deposit being demanded by Financial Institutions to qualify one to access loans from them. This inability was majorly responsible for low level of subscription of many SME Packages designed to support Entrepreneurs from the State.
Several individuals and business Organizations have been trying to acquire Certificates of Occupancy for years but proved abortive for reasons yet to be ascertained.
Land Registration, issuance of C of O and Ground rates are few areas where the Government can generate huge amount of revenue but unfortunately neglected. Moreso land Administration has gone digital everywhere therefore computerising the process makes it much easier and minimises land grabbing and racketeering constituting major problems in the system.
At this critical period of COVID 19 lockdown: the measure becomes necessary to prepare for the aftermath of the pandemic which has drastically affected economies of the World.
