His Excellency, Rtd Col Samaila Yombe Dabai mni, fss, psc+ Deputy Governor of Kebbi State on Tuesday received in audience Tiv Community led by Tor Tiv Mr Emmanuel Akpe and Baka Jethro in his office.

While expressing satisfaction to Kebbi state for creating an enabling environment for the Tiv community over many decades, he said some of Tiv people were employed by the state government while others, according to him “are business entrepreneurs living happily”.

He further stated that the community found it necessary to identify with Kebbi State government in the fight against covid19 by presenting protective materials that included 200 facemasks, 150 hand sanitisers, constructed systematic washing bucket as part of their contribution while describing the Kebbi Tiv community as one family in the state.

In his contribution, the Chief reiterated the effort to assist in the control of covid19 adding that it is a privilege to meet the deputy governor.

Responding to the team, the Deputy Governor, Rtd Col Samaila Yombe Dabai expressed his joy over meeting with the Tiv community stressing that he has been with Tiv right from military days when he was posted to the region along side with his Tiv military officer that taught him how to speak the language.

Reacting on behalf of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of the state, the Deputy Governor noted with keen interest the contribution of Tiv community towards the fight against covid19, acknowledging the presence of Hon Commissioner for Health and Chairman State Task Force Committee on Covid19, Alh Jafar Muhammad Clean.

Finally he thanked the elders and council of Tiv community in the state for their kind gesture.
