On February 27, 2020, the Nigerian Government announced its index case of the novel Corona Virus Disease discovered 2019 (COVID 19) and since then, measures have been put in place to contain the spread of the pandemic while tracing every suspected case.
Nigeria has recorded over 20 fatalities owing to COVID 19 with recovery cases moving slowly upwards even as confirmed cases keep rising. For instance, in just one month, confirmed cases moved up from 1 to 1000 with 28 fatalities.
However, many Nigerians including Kebbi citizens seem to believe that the virus isn’t real. While this is disheartening, the faster we get to embrace all policies set by the Kebbi State Task Force on Covid 19, the better for us. The cases recorded in Kano in just 7 days should not just be an example for us, but a lesson to learn from.
We have to appreciate that COVID 19 is real and it is spreading real quick but we will overcome. With the probability of recovering at 95%, the proactive nature of government agencies and the indefatigable efforts of our health workers, we will get through this.
I, therefore, urge the good people of Kebbi to fight this pandemic by sticking to the policies laid down by the State Government.
A brighter day will come.
