Chiefdoms, District and Village Heads as well as other Community Leaders in Zuru Emirate of Kebbi State have been directed to ensure strict compliance with guidelines and medical directives on the fight against COVID19 pandemic.
This was at the flag off of sensitization Campaign held on Saturday at the Palace of the Emir of Zuru attended by the five Chiefdoms, District Heads and Community Leaders in the Emirate.
Speaking at the occasion, the Emir of Zuru Maj Gen Muhammadu Sani Sami, Sami Gomo 11 admonishes people of the area to imbibe best hygiene practices, subject themselves to medical examinations and required tests on arrival from other parts of the Country and beyond in order to remain safe and halt further spread of the pandemic.
The Emir commended the Sami Gomo Foundation for spearheading the sensitization Campaign which he described as apt and timely considering the current global emergency in which everyone is concerned.
He directed them to carry the message to their respective domains with close monitoring to ensure compliance. He then commended the State Government for measures so far taken to sensitise the public as well as other measures put in place to curtail the spread of the pandemic.
The Emir also expressed happiness with positive response and understanding exhibited by Islamic Scholars in the Emirate who unanimously agreed to close all Islamiyya Schools in compliance with the directives of the State Medical Authorities.
Also speaking at the occasion, Executive Secretary of State Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr Abubakar Attahiru Kaoje emphasised the need for personal hygiene Practices, Environmental Sanitation, social distancing, and stay at home measures to avert contacts with potential carriers. He also advised members of the public to take precautionary measures against meningitis commonly prevalent in this period of time. “Sleeping with open Windows and less crowdy” is the best option against meningitis, he concluded.
In her speech on the Activists of Sami Gomo Foundation, Dr Aisha Aminu Senchi stated that arrangements have been made to carry out intensive sensitization Campaign across all villages and hamlets in the Emirate to compliment Government’s drive to educate the public on precautionary measures against COVID19 pandemic.
Highlights of the event include presentation of sanitisers and other consumables by the Wife of Kebbi State Governor Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu and State Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
Hand washing materials provided by the Sami Gomo Foundation were also distributed to the 5 Chiefdoms, Hospitals, Road Transport Union and Security Agencies among others.
Seating arrangement at the event was strictly on social distancing requirements.
