I had no means of livelihood until OXFAM came to train me – Beneficiary from Kebbi
A beneficiary of one of the capacity building schemes from OXFAM’s PROACT project, Rukaya Salisu, speaking with our correspondents recently during a Media tour, said she had no means of livelihood until she was trained by OXFAM.
OXFAM, an international organization through The European Union funded PROACT project in Kebbi state has touched the lives of rural women by building their capacities on income generating activities such as soap making, making of air fresheners, Vaseline production etc. generally local context based value added production of necessity goods.
According to Rukkaya, through the training in Janduste, Jega LGA, she has been able to start a business venture from the production of petroleum jelly and air fresheners Training she got from OXFAM.
Rukaya, who spoke one-on-one with our correspondent said, the project has helped her and several other women take care of their financial needs such as funding their children’s education and healthcare services.
While fielding questions from newsmen, Usman Faleye, Governance and Influencing Coordinator of OXFAM, said the organization has also supported vulnerable smallholder farmers in the last 3years reaching over 20,000 households in Kebbi.
