Kebbi Students Award Aisha Bagudu and MALPAI Foundation
In what appeared to be a remarkable and significant achievement, Hajiya Aisha Atiku Bagudu, the Wife of the Executive Governor of Kebbi State has been awarded for her Educational Philanthropy by Kebbi State Students in Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto.
The event which held in the University convocation arena was attended by many dignitaries notably the Vice Chancellor Professor Lawal Sulaiman Bilbis who was represented by his deputy, Prof Lawal Abubakar and other staff and students of the University.
In his speech while presenting the award to her excellency, Prof Abubakar congratulated her and affirmed that the award is well deserved, highlighting the achievements in the area of education through the foundation on mass literacy known as MALPAI.
He highlighted that In 2018, MALPAI sponsored over 600 girls and 100 almajiri to various schools in Kebbi State as part of efforts to reduce illiteracy among the people.
In her remark, Hajiya Aisha Bagudu who was ably represented by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education thanked the organizers of the event and charged students to always remain serious about their studies. In her words, she said;
“I’m very glad to see Kebbi Students exhibiting their culture in the University and I have been told that this event is the first of its kind ever organized by Kebbi Students in this University, I am very proud of you and we assure you that His Excellency will be very proud of you as well, however I want to appeal to you to be very exemplary students and be more focus on your studies because it is your primary assignment”.
She also donated the sum of 1 Million Naira as contribution to the Union for the Establishment of Business Centre which will serve as additional source of income for the Association.
Other Members who receive award are Honorable Shehu Muhammad Koko psc, mni (Wamban Koko) as Most Youth Friendly, Hon Yakubu Bello Rilisco, as Servant Leader; An award of leadership excellence And Hon. Shafi’u Abubakar Zauro (Dan Mallam) awarded as “Young Leader of the year”
At the event a paper on the “History and Culture of Kebbi People” was presented by Dr Abdullahi Labbo who doubles as the Staff Adviser and Chairman of the Kessa Week.
