All is set for the visit by the Vice President of Nigeria Professor Yemi Osinbajo to Kebbi State on Thursday, September 12th.
Few kilometres to Ambursa Airport, the Vice President would be amazed to gaze at the arable landmass, vast fadama plains, low vegetation forests and amazing water tributaries of rivers Zamfara, Rima and Sokoto as well as the Gwandu- Gulumbe Shallah fadama where variety of vegetables, fruits, and Sugar cane are produced in commercial quantities for domestic markets.
While descending towards the Airport, another project of economic importance : the Labana Rice Mills stands majestically to welcome the August Visitor to the land of Equity, Nation’s rice hub and home of the famous Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.
Every Presidential visit since 2015 to date is linked to economic prosperity of Kebbi State and it’s people ; the first being in 2015 at the launching of Anchor Borrowers Farming Program officially performed by Mr President himself.
Another one by the Vice President saw the formal commissioning of the multi billion Naira WACOT Rice Mills at Argungu in tune with the diversification drive of the present Administration to feed the Nation from home grown rice and other farm produce.
The First Lady’s Visit in 2016 offered many opportunities to the State essentially in providing succour to women and children as well as to healthcare support under her Future Assured Program.
This visit by the Vice President is significant in many respects : It signals the commencement of SME Clinic for Start Ups in various business ventures as well as offers opportunities for value addition to variety of agricultural commodities produced in the State. The package embedded in the visit include inspection visits and commissioning of commercial centres \ ultramodern markets in Birnin Kebbi, Jega and Ambursa.
Providing modern market outlets spur accelerated level of commercial transactions in agricultural commodities, livestock, Fisheries as well as open the State for greater economic exploits.
Taking agriculture and commerce to the next level ; Kebbi will be better placed to leverage on the enthusiasm generated by the Presidential interventions to Create Organised Private Sector capable of providing the needed impetus for sustainable economic growth and development.
