1.0 Every year, a special theme is decided by the UN(United Nations) for the International Youth Day and the 2019 theme is “Transforming education”.

2.0 I join millions of youths around the world to celebrate this 2019 International Youth Day. Today, August 12, is an opportunity to celebrate together the energy, the foresight and the innovations of youths in making the world a better place.

3.0. According to recent statistics, Half of the young population of the world are uneducated. In Nigeria alone, millions of youths of school ages are out-of-school; that’s why it’s very vital to start a mission to provide them education.

4.0 While we are still fighting for quality education for our teeming population, the UN Secretary -General António Guterres reiterated that the youth need to be enabled to become job generators from job seekers.

5.0 From the report of the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics, Kebbi state is adjudged the safest place to live in Nigeria. This report does not only validate our claim as peaceful people, it has also send a message to the world that the youths in Kebbi state do not take pleasure in violence, insurgency or any of such things.

6.0 The economic growth of our dear state, its continuous peace and progress in technology, health, energy, agriculture and education are dependent on the ability to harness the creative powers of our youths. Yet, some young women and men are still facing violence and deprivation of their fundamental human rights. We must put a stop to all this.

5.0 In the UN Secretary’s Message, “Today, we celebrate the young people, youth-led organizations, Governments and others who are working to transform education and uplift young people everywhere.” BUT IN Africa, most YOUTHS ARE DEPRIVED THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

6.0 In this landmark year, we must prepare to adopt a bold new vision for sustainable youth development. The leadership of the National Youth Council is prepared to partner with several organizations that will promote education, security and economic prosperity.

7.0 On this day, I call for forging new partnerships and joining efforts in eliminating illiteracy. Together, we make the world a better place!

8.0 Youths are the future of any nation and that’s why every nation should take care of their youths.

I wish all youths a happy International Youth Day!

Aliyu Bunza
