KEBBI GOES GREEN CAMPAIGN TARGETS 1 MILLION TREES IN 2019; Calls for tree donations
Notable environmental activists and groups are to collaborate to promote mass planting of trees in Kebbi State this year.
Speaking in Birnin Kebbi today at the end of Strategic Planning meeting ; Project Coordinator Salahuddeen Bello Bala said so far several individuals and organizations have indicated interests in the project and have started redeeming their pledges to the group.
He added that some components of the campaign include ” Each one PLANTS one tree or SPONSOR the Planting of one while the campaign slogan goes as #PLANT-SNAP- SHARE, as well as PLANT – NURTURE – PROTECT. This will go along is ensuring growth of the trees for sustainable environment.
On the need to engage Schools in the project, the strategic planning meeting proposed to adopt an approach that allows each pupil \ Student plant one tree and nurture it to maturity under ONE PUPIL \ STUDENT ONE TREE INITIATIVE, the Coordinator stated.
200 Trees have been donated today by Hon Abubakar Bagudu Dallatun Kalgo to kick start the Campaign with an appeal to concerned individuals and organizations to key in for sustainable environment in the State.
The campaign tagged OPERATION PLANT 1 MILLION TREES is expected to commence in due course across all the 21 Local Government Areas of Kebbi State.
