FIFA to invest 1.2 Million U.S Dollars in Kebbi state
The federation of International Football Association (FIFA) is to invest 1.2 Million U.S Dollars in Kebbi state on football development through the establishment of a Football Technical Centre.
According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari the General-Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation NFF Dr. Muhammad Sanusi Birnin Kebbi disclosed this at a courtesy visit to Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu at Government House Birnin Kebbi this Thursday.
Dr. Sanusi announced that NFF has appreciated the zeal and commitment of the Kebbi state government to sport development by ensuring sports men and women receive adequate training to compete at national and international levels.
The General Secretary thanked Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for providing the necessary support to the State Ministry of Youths and Sports to perform its functions efficiently saying FIFA was aware of the effort being made on sport development in the state which motivated FIFA to provide support to Kebbi state by establishing the technical centre, in Birnin Kebbi.
In response, Governor Atiku Bagudu welcomed the establishment of the 1.2 Million Dollars Technical Centre by FIFA aimed at promoting and developing sports in the state.
Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu was full of gratitude to NFF and FIFA for considering Kebbi among places for the setting up of such centres in Nigeria.
Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu told his guests that in the last four years, the state ministry of sports has done well which enabled the state to host several national and international competitions as well as played host to professionals, like Peter Rufai and Tijjani Babangida.
He added that Kebbi state team emerged winner in a soccer beach competition held in Lagos.
He said 15 students from the state have been sponsored to receive training at Kwara Sport Academy in furtherance of efforts to promote sports to high standard.
The governor expressed satisfaction about the performance of Kebbi United Football Club urging the players to sustain the tempo.
Earlier, the Chairman of Nigerian Football Federation Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ladan, explained that the team led by Dr. Muhammad Sanusi General Secretary NFF was in the state to inspect and take possession of four hectres of land for the establishment of the football technical centre in Kebbi state.
He announced that the certificate of occupancy was ready for collection which FIFA donated to Nigeria who in turn gave it to Kebbi state for the centre.
He commended Dr. Sanusi who is an indigene of Kebbi state for his commitment in seeing the state receive sports facilities and assistance from the world football governing body.
The governor later presented a certificate of occupancy for the permanent site of the technical centre, Birnin Kebbi to the General-Secretary Dr. Muhammad Sanusi Nigeria Football Federation, assisted by Mr. Solomon Munfuzi Mundego senior development officer, member nations FIFA.
