The trajectory of #KebbiCulturalDay received another milestone with Royal Blessing from the Emir of Gwandu and Chairman, Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, Major General Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar (Rtd) on Monday, June 10, 2019.
Receiving a delegation of the Kebbi Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation, organizers of the Cultural Day, the Royal Father assured of maximum support and cooperation from the Emirate. He said the Council would provide materials for exhibition such as traditional weapons, Amaryar Doki (decorated horse) with royal band in full regalia and other historical crafts necessary to make the colourful event successful.
The Emir who described culture as bedrock of the society, urged parents to be vigilant on their children as well as inculcate traditional norms and values inculcated in them. He stressed the need for reviving and preserving the century old Hausa tradition which include dying, blacksmithing, costumes, textiles, dress and other crafts which have tremendous economic prospects for the State and the country in general.
The mornach futher called on Nigerians to embrace their culture rather than adopting alien tradition which lack moral background. He enjoined citizens to patronize made in Nigeria goods in order to boost the economy of the country. He commended the Foundation for the initiative, appealing to other organizations and individual stakeholders to support event.
Earlier in his remarks, State Coordinator of the Foundation, Jamilu Magaji Ambursa, thanked the Emir for playing host for the visit. He said the event which is slated for June 26, 2019, would also mark the 2019 World Day for Cultural Diversity, Dialogue and Development.
