ATASP-1 to develop rural infrastructure, enhance Rice, Sorghum, Cassava farmers’ access to financial services
The Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program phase-1(ATASP-1) is to develop rural infrastructure and enhance access of Rice, Sorghum and Cassava farmers and other value chain actors to financial Services and market.
The National Coordinator of the program Dr I.M Arabi made the disclosure during ATASP-1 Zonal work planing meeting held in Sokoto.
Represented by Dr Festus Okozo,the National coordinator said the meeting will provide the impetus for their plan on accelerated implementation of outreach activities in the zones for the year 2019.
He said the ATASP-1 would ensure attainment of food and nutrition security as well as contribute to employment generation and wealth creation of the targeted beneficiaries along rice, sorghum and Cassava value chains on sustainable basis.
Earlier the zonal coordinator ATASP-1 in charged of Kebbi and Sokoto states Alh Aliyu Abubakar Dogondaji decried over the non payment of state counter part by both Kebbi and Sokoto states for the last 3 years.
He also expressed optimism that the two state would soon pay their counter part in order to sustained the program’s activities.
The meeting is to review 2018 field activities and to finalize the three commodity 2019 work plan for each zone as well as to decide the way forward for the program.
