With the view to map out effective and relevant knowledge areas, achieve a robust knowledge base, and form a join coalition with the aim of developing a strategy for knowledge and learning management systems, OXFAM has organized a 2-day event with development partners in Birnin Kebbi.
PROACT is the European Union Support to Food Security and Resilience in Northern Nigeria. The project is geared toward improving food security and resilience of vulnerable households in Kebbi and Adamawa.
While addressing the joint-session in an opening remark, the PROACT Project Manager, Mr. Olumide Ojo, said the event was necessitated because of what he described as the need to “foster quality partnerships and building on one another’s area of strength.”
He said working collaboratively with both Community Based Groups and Civil Society Organizations were needed to ensure the speedy transformation in various areas targeted by development actors in the state.
The PROACT Governance and Influencing Coordinator, Usman Faleye, in his presentation, gave a brief insight in joint influencing for sustainability of development intervention, stressing that all the partner organizations were directly working towards attaining a common goal – conquering poverty and its effects.
The event, which will be completed today, 15th, also witnessed presentation by Lukman Abdullahi, PROACT Meal Officer, Nafisa Abubakar Zaki of USAID Integrated Health Program, UNICEF State Team Lead, M1, UHRPF, BreakthroughAction, Life-helpers and others who took their turns to air their organizations’ implementation focus, State location and beneficiaries; Challenges and Lessons Learnt and Key priorities for 2019.
Other Development Partners at the event include: Kebbi Community Action group, Arewa Female Youth Ambassadors, KebbiTV, VisionFM, Radio Nigeria and Center for Transparency and Advocacy.
The program is billed to continue tomorrow and will be rounded up by noon with a Joint Development Actor collaborative work-plan and Joint Influencing/Advocacy outcomes, created by all partners.
